The Cultural Exploration of Greater China Foundation (CE http://culturalexploration.org/default.aspx) held its third annual friendship luncheon on September 25th at China Harbor restaurant in Seattle. Attended by over two hundred and forty guests, this successful event raised over $20,000 to fund the cultural exploration activities for 2012.

Founded in 1999, CE has been providing cultural learning opportunities for the Greater Puget Sound area teachers and students for the past 12 years.

Opening up this year’s program is a team of enthusiastic elementary school students reciting Chinese poems and two Chinese yo-yo players. Together, they provided a snippet of the Chinese Scholastic Competition CE co-sponsored in March.

Four 2011 CE teachers shared their summer trip experience touring historical landmarks in China, viewing private antique collections in Hong Kong, visiting schools and teaching Chinese students in Taipei. The opportunity to experience modern day China and making the connection with Chinese people is indeed priceless and will directly benefit their teachings for years to come.

A variety of silent and live auction items ranging from a Song dynasty antique brick and contemporary oil paintings to a Whistler getaway and wine-pairing party raised over $20,000 at the luncheon.

Many thanks to CE Friends and Supporters for your generous donations and a big round of applause for the tireless volunteers, the luncheon was successfully concluded and set the stage for another year of cultural exploration activities!
